Subject: Season 5 - Episode 2 question?

OK, living here in the UK I've just seen the second episode of season 5.
When Angel and Spike got to visit the Necromancer guy, after Angel kills the butler with 'a spoon!' (I don't care how stupid the idea, Spike's reaction made this a brilliant bit of TV!), they walk down a corridor and Angel turns to Spike and says (something along the lines of) "You asked for your soul back, I didn't and it nearly killed me!"

Did anyone else take from this that Angel actually resents/dislikes having his soul?
Also could this then explain his next complaint that Spike took 3 weeks moaning in a basement while he went through 100 years of infinite remorse (or whatever)?
Also, this is off the top of my head so could be way off, but didn't Angel get his soul back post 1900 in like 1920 or something?

I gotta say though, I love the conversations between Angel and Spike, especially the ones infront of the others. Sort of reminds me of Spike & Xander, which I feel is something that wasn't exploited as much as it could've been in Buffy.

However I think that Spike needs to become corporeal again soon as Spike without a little violence just ain't gonna be right. I realise that 2 vampires with souls would sorta take away from the unique abilities the characters have, but I think Angel and Spike could be different enough, with their own strengths (physical and mental) and weaknesses. I think Angel is a better fighter, but I think Spike is a better reader of people, Angel is a leader, Spike has a never say die, get knocked-down-and-get-back-up-again sorta style.

Also, although I doubt it'll happen due to him not really bringing anything to the group, I'd like to see Xander in a number of episodes of Angel.

Who'd be up for a Spike and Xander spin-off? Anyone? No? Just me then....ah well.

I think Angel has a problem not with his soul, per se, but that it forces him to reflect on all the atrocities he committed when he was without one. After it was restored to him, grief from all the murders almost was too much for him to go on.

I'd talk about Spike, but I don't want to spoil you.
