“Buying stuff just can’t seem to save them”
Warning: Every TV show that I like gets cancelled, e.g., "The A-Team"; "Miami Vice"; "Nash Bridges"; "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr."; “Arrested Development”; "Rains"; "K-ville"; “Pushing Up Daisies”, etc. With my blue-collar dollars, I bought stock in Kmart and two airlines, all three of them going bankrupt on me. Boohoo, my mutual funds were losers too. At least lotteries still give hopes to dopes. Last night, I won seven dollars during the Friday-night Mega Millions drawing!
In 2003, I bought a new HP desktop computer at COMP USA, with the download recovery service that I could not use after they closed and left the plaza. At Circuit City, I recently wasted about $160, buying an unneeded "Office Home and Student 2007" [CD] program that was already installed within my new Lenovo desktop PC with VISTA, and their Firedog data recovery download service. Circuit City just went bankrupt and will also be closing the doors. How many more big and local little stores are going to be empty and pushing up daisies?
Uh-oh, folks, have we all bought enough cheap Chinese stuff, and no longer need new toys for big girls and boys? We only need to shop cheaper and smarter at CUB, Kroger, Meijer, Wal-Mart and thrift stores. Oh, like most local folks, at least in West Carrollton, Ohio, I still have a house full of [defunct] ROBERDs furniture, appliances and entertainment devices. Now, Old Roberds is a flea market that I frequent. Do I really need this nice but higher-priced high-speed Internet access and service, to e-mail my columns, stories and better letters to my fans, family members, friends and better editors?
