I bet it was fun and you got a little thrill and didn't give a damn about a wasted school day or who pays the bills. Just one day off, what could it hurt? As soon as I graduated, back in 1968, I had to start applying for jobs, not being eligle for affirmative-action or preferential victim status. I then had to do my best at filling out job applications and taking employment, military and aviation tests. Yes, then it hit me, when instructors used to say "Didn't you take it in school?" Yes, I had. I just goofed off and didn't pay attention that class or that day. Yes, I had once known or should have or could have that ONE pesky question that made me fail. Just a few correct answers could have and would have made all the difference. If you want to be a pilot or a cop or anything else, you have to be able to read, write and speak English. You have to know some math and science. These three subjects are the basic basis necessary for an education and to make one employable if not enjoyable. Yes, you scoff. Well, I hope that you enjoyed this one fun day off. Remeber it well when unemployment becomes hell. Yes, when you sit and sweat and compete with the best on tests, you too will regret being a little fool and missing that one day of school.
