Subject: Tues. 3-31-09 Speak Up, Christians hoarding dollars
“Good behavior pays off!”
One of today’s [Tues. 3-31-09] Dayton Daily News Speak Ups irked and irritated me, while reminding me of how childish, envious, short-sighted and stupid I too used to be, way back when, when I enjoyed expensively sinning with my so-called friends. We used to laugh at and ridicule “Christians” because they were not spending their money on frivolous “fun”, unlike the rest of us but not the best of us. Hhhmmm…let us say that I have wasted at least $40,000 during the past forty or so years.
Hey, I never thought that I would survive to be alive at the age of fifty [eight years ago], so why be thrifty?
Good behavior pays off! Our Christian acquaintances, coworkers, friends and kin did things right; not spending their abilities, efforts, time and money on cigarettes, drink, drugs, dating, mating, driving, gambling and divorce, of course. Most of the Christians whom I have known deliberately made a few babies only after they graduated and were married with jobs and [opposite-sex] spouses inside houses. Yes, they worked and saved and invested and did their best. And now some of us complain and holler because they are hoarding or holding onto their dollars, such childish churlish rants reminding me of that old comparable parable about the grasshopper and the ant. Maybe, we should be emulating them instead of berating or even hating them?
