Subject: U.S. and OPIC promote mortgages for Palestinians
“Please, pardon us little-picture people”
“U.S. pushes housing for Palestinians”… “West Bankers to Get Mortgages”…sometimes even I cannot believe what I am reading, even after Yahooing, Asking, and Googling. What mortgage crisis? This U.S.-led [by whom?] plan is to build 30,000 affordable apartments, over five years, and offer Palestinians $500 million in long-term mortgages, half coming from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. If such private investment is so good, why does it have to be promoted by our government and paid for by our taxpayers?
I hope that the big-picture people can understand the natural cynicism and suspicion of us little-picture people. Can we bribe the Palestinians to be nice and pay them to behave, much as we have tried to do with our own Section Eight public-housing inhabitants? Likewise, will the Palestinian Housing Authority make these apartment dwellers sign no-terrorism leases and evict them if and when they break them; if and after they are caught using them for safe houses, attack planning, bomb making, and firing rockets at Jews from balconies, windows and rooftops? Are any or many insurance companies going to pay up after the Jews fire missiles into them in retaliation? How high are insurance premiums in the Middle East? Are they higher than they are in New Jersey, Louisiana or Florida?
Palestinian/Arab/Muslim birthrates could in fact and indeed lead to the eventual inevitable demographic death and destruction of Israel; as evidenced by the Palestinian need for 65,000 apartments, with a demand for 11,000 homes per year, bad news for Israel and the Jews. This could be especially bad and sad if and when the American Empire finally retreats, and leaves Iraq and the Middle East in defeat because of deficits, debts, deaths and downsizing.
Like most of those perpetual professional Hurricane Katrina/FEMA/Bush victims, some of us little-picture people think that this exposed proposed Palestinian housing program is dumb; and thus wonder about how much of this OPIC and International Finance Corporation [World Bank] funding will be taken in taxes from our incomes. What deficit spending? What $10 trillion national debt? Why haven’t these conservative Republicans killed this wasteful if not insane federal agency? Which presidential candidate can or will eliminate it and this insane waste?
Most of us Midwestern little-picture people will not be seeing any more meaningful/real wage increases, especially these retirees and new-economy part-time temporary seasonal service-and-retail [U.S. citizen] associates. Recently, my property taxes went up another $40 per month because of a [West Carrollton] school levy and a [Mexican?] Human Services levy that were passed by local voters last year. They will go up an addition $40 or so per month, due to the passage of Sinclair Community College’s Issue 39. Add at least another $12 per month after a future water-rate increase.
Yes, us little-picture people may indeed be more greedy than needy, not really wanting to give up just a few more pizzas and pops and meals and movies, especially since we have started paying $50 to fill up our vehicle tanks with gasoline. Sorry about those generous tips, girls. Well, I guess that we don’t really need to roam from our homes, and can pay for Palestinian apartments instead, while paying for the Israelis to shoot missiles into them, and then pay for them to be repaired, rebuilt or replaced.
Speaking for the greedy selfish stingy little-picture people, I just want to know: Now, how many pizzas and pops and meals and matinee movies is this latest insane government generosity going to cost ME? Will it finally make the Palestinians [like our own Section Eight inhabitants] be more grateful than hateful? Will they finally like us and decide to be nice? Sorry, most of us little-picture people are not smarter than these global-citizen conservatives or Jimmy “The Genius” Carter.
