“Drive”, tonight
“Hypocrites Warm The Globe With ‘Drive’”
Sunday evening, April 15, 2007:
On Page 5 of “CHANNELS” (the Dayton Daily News weekly guide to television), I see that “Drive”, a weekly road-race [rage?] TV series, starts with a two-hour episode at eight o’clock on FOX. I may videotape it, or even view and listen to it, if only for research that cannot hurt.
All of us Mother Earth lovers and others, who honestly and really care about the environment, could and should boycott "Drive" because it ain't right! Like “Grindhouse” (to which I drove to see on a big Saturday-matinee movie screen), “Drive” likewise warms the globe and pollutes and poisons the planet and its inhabitants. The short TV teaser trailers look similar: big fast gas-guzzling vehicles racing, chasing and wrecking between fires and explosions.
“Drive” is yet another example of typical Hollyweirdo hypocrisy: greedy shortsighted selfish egotistical capitalistic corporate profiteers (including producers, distributors, directors, actors, stunt and special-effects persons) warming the globe for their enjoyable employment, our entertainment, and their personal and professional pride, prestige, power and profit.
Let us see if, unlike those “Grindhouse” folks, these “Drive” people use clean "green" small slow bio-fueled and hybrid-electric vehicles; digitally enhancing and speeding them up to do spectacular stunts for us. An inconvenient truth: To cool the globe, we ALL must adapt and lower our entertainment/excitement expectations while adjusting to new but necessary environmentally-friendly restrictions and regulations, that we must implement and enforce of course.
