“Political compassion contests = pork fests”
I just switched my stereo from Sean Hannity’s talk-radio show to a smooth-jazz station, tired of hearing the shouting and pouting about that old bridge that broke and fell into the Mississippi River at Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Now, if you can read, recall and remember the relevant math regarding the donations and taxes that have been taken and wasted, in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks and Hurricane Katrina, and other natural/Bush-caused disasters:
You don’t need to fear or hear people on talk-radio shows yelling or telling or whining or reminding you that political compassion contests always end up being wasteful inefficient political [PAC-contributor/dependent- constituent] pork fests; since feelings, media and personal attacks matter more than unpleasant financial facts
Look at and listen to me on TV! I am nicer than he and she because I don’t have to ration my compassion! Boohoo, I dare to care and share more than you! FEMA failures? Hey, wanna buy some cheap unused or trashed travel trailers? You and your spouse deserve a new free house! I feel your pain because of that hurricane! Approve and appropriate in haste regardless of fraud and waste! Are those mean greedy taxpayers gonna try to deny you a new bridge?
Hey, by the way, these people have just got to stop spending [with credit-card debts that they’ll regret] and start behaving and saving while paying for all of these new bridges and paving. The government can teach them how to do it because there has to be an agency with a program out there somewhere!
