THE HAGUE, THE NETHERLANDS - In the city of The Hague, amateurs and professionals will find six weeks of ballet, contemporary workshops and repertory at Summerschool Den Haag. Teachers are currently connected to national- and international companies such as the Dutch National Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater and Dance Works Rotterdam.

Participating students will learn and experience how it feels to work with professional dancers and choreographers. They can choose several workshops: including ‘Exploring Ton Simons’ Repertory for Dance Works Rotterdam with Sara Erens’. The repertory by Dance Works Rotterdam and especially the works by artistic director Ton Simons are an important addition to the dance repertoire of the Netherlands. Simons received several awards including the Merit Award 2004, in great appreciation of his qualities as a director and as a choreographer. Sara Erens danced with the company for seven years and performed many choreographies by Ton Simons.

BOYS CLASS
For the first time this year, Summerschool Den Haag is presenting Boys classes in ballet technique at a basic level as well as advanced and Pas de Deux Basics for young professionals.
“There is a growth in the amount of boys” said Mirella Simoncini, Artistic Director of Summerschool Den Haag. “We have a lot of boys that are focusing on a professional career - but we also have boys that are learning ballet for pleasure. When they discover the technique, strength of the body and freedom of dance they are happily surprised”.

ROMANTIC REPERTORY
Summerschool Den Haag is presenting several workshops with classical repertory. Segments from Sleeping Beauty by Mirella Simoncini will be taught in a 3-day workshop for young professionals and in a one-day mini workshop for amateur students.

WHERE’s MY TURN-OUT?
Leila Kester, teacher at the Dutch National Ballet and the Nederlands Dans Theater is teaching two workshops for technical development. ‘Where’s My Turn-Out?’ will help you to understand where the strength and movement is coming from, by using a floorbarre. The 2nd workshop ‘How to reach a Beautiful Arabesque’ will use Pilates, guided by Kester you will find out if and how a beautiful arabesque is within your reach.
