Hi Jim, sorry for the late reply -thanks for the update on football at UNO!

>I know you've got your plate full and can't add a club

Actually I have never ruled out that possibility - what has stymied me has been my inability to determine just how many such teams there are. Ten? Twenty? A hundred? A thousand? I have no idea! If it's fewer than fifty or so, and there is some way to establish what an "official" club team is, then I could probably add the category to the web site. But I would be reluctant to add helmet images for a small number of teams (say, ten or twenty well-organized teams with good web sites), if I thought there were hundreds more teams with no web sites and no chance of locating decent photographs for them (and perhaps even no "helmet design" for some teams).

I've asked here a couple of times if anyone could pointt me to a list of club teams, but no such list seems to have been compiled by anyone, and usually I just get a short list of well-known teams (Marquette, George Mason, etc).

Hey Charles. Thanks for the reply.

UNO is playing in the Midwestern Club Football Conference South Division with Xavier, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Miami(OH). The North Division is Ohio State, Wright State, Michigan-Flint and Marquette. All of the teams in the MCFC have websites.

The conference website is http://mcfc.shutterfly.com

There is also the Seaboard Conference in which George Mason plays and a Southeastern Club Football Conference which has a lot of ACC schools like Duke, UNC and Clemson, but also includes Radford and Columbia Southern.

Texas-Arlington has a club team that UNO will play home and home this year. UTA is not in a club football conference.

South Alabama will continue playing club football, despite the school adding NCAA football.

The quality of football seems to be pretty decent. UNO will play two NAIA teams this year - Concordia and Edward Waters. Xavier played an NCAA Division II team last year. Pretty serious stuff for club football.

The Privateer Football website, www.privateerfootball.com, is now the official site of the new club football team.

Hey Charles. Getting back to you on this because you expressed interest in trying to get a handle on how many club teams are out there.

Here is a link to the National Club Football Rankings website.

http://ncfa.webs.com/rankings.htm

What they are trying to do is formalize a ranking system for club teams similar to the rest of college football. The top 20 teams are ranked and each ranking has a link to their website.

It's a start at least if you decide you want to pursue this.

By the way, UNO defeated Texas-Arlington, 19-3 at home to start the season last week.
