The helmet on the right is supposed to be the new home helmet, one on the left is the new away helmet. The "blackout" helmet in the center is supposed to be worn October 6th this year against UConn.

A cool thing about these helmets is that there is apparently a matte black finish underneath the chrome, and they won't be constantly repainted, so after enough use they will be full of "battle scars" to simulate chinks in a Knights suit of armor.

I must admit, when I first saw them I was not a fan, but after seeing all three videos associated with the unveil, they are growing on me pretty quickly.

I may have to await some more photographs of those. Basically they appear to be an ultra-reflective silver color, more or less like those that Oregon wore during the last Rose Bowl, with some black "dings" and "scratches" that may be concentrated more densely towards the bottom - is that approximately correct?

I wonder if Rutgers gave any consideration to having a faux "suit of armor"-type helmet, via some innovative facemask with extraneous vertical bars? Something like the photo below:

Seems technically feasible, though perhaps extremely expensive, and possibly conflicting with NCAA regulations.

That would be correct. Heres a link to even more close up photos of the helmets (don't mind the photo shopped red helmet):
http://rutgers.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=642&tid=154969436&mid=154969436&sid=988&style=2

In addition, as the season wears on, there are supposed to be more black "dings" and "scrapes" that show up all over the helmet as underneath the reflective layer there is a matte black layer (kind of a more modern "helmet sticker" ala Ohio State or Georgia)
