Subject: 1966 Delaware helmet with Old English D

I found this photograph of the Blue hens helmet from the 1966 Hofstra game:

Notice that the player with the ball clearly has an old English D logo on his headgear as does his teammate on the lower left.

Thanks, never seen or heard of that one before! I wonder for how long it was used?

As I've said over and over again, there are probably MANY other "unknown" helmet designs waiting to be "re-discovered", even for rather prominent teams like Delaware. I hope all of you will keep looking for them.

Very cool find, Big Tex!

Notice that the helmet is one of those odd MacGregor models that BYU, Fresno State, Ohio State and some other teams wore in the early to mid 1960's.
Blue Hens version not as noticeable because of their wing design.

Also, after doing some research, the small "D" logo was used in 1965 but not in 1964 or 1967.
They may have only wore it for the first game of the 1966 season Vs. ...Hofstra (as indicated in the photo).

In most other games in 1966 the helmets have no "D".
