Well, I guess I really don't have an opinion about that one way or the other. Normally I try to use the common "short-form" name for each school, omitting "College" or "University (of)", except when necessary to distinguish from another school (e.g. Boston College vs Boston University) or when the name is ambiguous without it (e.g. College of New Jersey). Since it is not "wrong" (as best I can tell) to refer to the school as Central Connecticut State I would probably leave the name as-is unless requested to change it by someone in authority at the university.

I do agree that "State" appears to be widely omitted at the athletic web site, but I also noticed that "Central Connecticut State" is listed in the conference standings at the Northeast Conference's web site. If CCSU had a different preference I would assume that they'd contact the Northeast Conference.

What about Sewanee? According to the Maryville College football schedule, they are playing University of the South. But the College calls themselves Sewanee?

Any Ideas on what to put on your page?

The school commonly uses "Sewanee" as a sort of nickname, so I went with that. "Sewanee" is the name used in the standings at the Southern Athletic Association's web site:
