Subject: Navy's seven different helmets for Army game

Navy will have seven different helmets for the Army game, corresponding to the seven ships that make up the U.S. Naval Fleet. I'm guessing this is the first time something of this magnitude has been done in a single game. They look quite sharp.

Wow, they do look beautiful, but they can be nightmarish if they have to be photo-manipulated like all the other chrome helmets we've seen so far.

The only other thing that's similar I can think of is Florida State's three helmets for 1962 lasting all season (one design each for offense, defense, and all-around), and that's a far cry from what we will see on December 12.

If anyone comes across larger photographs of those different designs, please post links to them here!

And the Army counters with seventeen different designs:

So that is 24 different designs for one game alone. That has never happened before.

Well, at least the Army ones will be easier to illustrate.

I'm sure it hasn't. Hopefully not a sign of things to come...

Looks like Army is using numerals on the left side of each helmet, with the military insignia on just the right side.

Nice job on the Army helmets, Mr. Arey!

College GameDay's tweet in the SBNation link said the seventeen branches represent "the 17 branches cadets can enter after graduation", hence why only those were selected. However, whether the cadets can select their design remains unclear.

Thanks. The wording is ambiguous, but perhaps that's an indication that graduates can't go directly into the other branches. I was never in the military so I'm clueless about such matters.
