Head Football Coach

Texas Wesleyan University is seeking to hire a Head Football Coach responsible for planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes, along with fiscal management, for a new NAIA football program to begin competition in the Central States Football League in 2017. Head coaching experience preferred. The candidate must: 1.) Have a strong focus on student-athlete academic success. 2.) Insist on exemplary student-athlete behaviors both on campus and in public. 3.) Have extensive coaching experience at either the high school or college level.
Position Type: Full Time
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Athletic Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Main Campus
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop coaching techniques, players and overall strategies; evaluate individual performances and provide leadership and instruction in areas deemed necessary for success.
Plan and coordinate team travel arrangements to include means used, equipment to be taken, logistics, etc.
Conduct comprehensive recruiting activities, coordinate with Admissions Office to establish academic eligibility and possible financial aid packages.
Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters. Coordinate with faculty and administration in resolving those problems within their jurisdiction.
Participate in fundraising, public relations activities, e.g., public appearances, attendance at conferences, etc.
Ensure compliance with NAIA and Central States Football League rules and regulations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
Willing to accept additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director

Travel required for NAIA competition and recruiting purposes.
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years successful coaching experience.
Must have an extensive knowledge of football including recruitment, scheduling, equipment purchases, facility maintenance, etc.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Valid driverís license and the ability to drive student-athletes to contests.

Must be able to travel on charter bus and supervise large groups.

Must be available for early morning, evening, weekends and overnight trips.
