Subject: General announcements, September 6 2016

As always, thanks to everyone for your many reports - they are very helpful. Years ago I used to try to acknowledge every report, but there are just too many these days, so this is my collective thank-you to everyone who contributes information to the site.

If you have multiple reports it would be best to lump them together in a single message, so as to keep old stuff from scrolling off the message board - I do frequently refer to old messages from even two or three years ago for one reason or another. Just list all the involved teams in your message subject so I can find them easily. There's no urgency since I can hardly keep up with everything from one week to the next anymore, as I tried to do until about 2011. I regard "full-time" helmet designs as a higher priority, but I do want to add as many "alternate" designs to the website as possible, also.

It is VERY helpful if you can keep track of whatever sequence of helmet designs team X uses from one week to the next. A couple of volunteers did this last year (thanks, Nameless and Jeff) for the Division I teams, but it would be helpful if somebody could do likewise for the known multiple-helmet design smaller schools, also. I can check dozens of different team websites every week, but can't possibly check 900.

I still have quite a bit of information from 2015 (and for some teams 2014 & earlier) to work through and intend to do so in the coming weeks - I've hardly even looked at the information yet for most teams in the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, and Sun Belt Conferences, plus several other pain-in-the-neck teams (e.g. Memphis, Arizona State, Air Force, Mississippi State, and several others). For most of these I should have all the information I need, though, so it's just a matter of finding time to work through them all.

Eventually I want to discuss (or see if there's any interest) in creating some kind of collaborative database of helmet designs, perhaps using Wikipedia or something similar to it.

We might do something like a Wiki as a collaboration of which schools are talking about adding football. I know there are a lot missing on here.

[> Question -- David H, 11:30:44 09/07/16 Wed (50.142.199.3)

Is there a tutorial on how to use the helmet template you have in Photoshop? I'd love to help contribute to this site in the future.
