It’s another new year of college football, and another new year of helmet design orders. We have to thank Mr. Arey for keeping up with the influx of new designs for these past few years.

As usual, each football team will have a series of letters assigned that represents the order of helmets as denoted on the Helmet Project site. The most common helmet for a team that doesn’t have these orders originally is assigned “A” by default, with other designations alphabetically to follow. For the FBS, most teams will have 12 of these letters in order, not counting any playoffs or bowls the teams will enter should they do so. For Canada’s U Sports (the former CIS), 8 letters will appear, not counting its playoff system.

Links to an individual photograph or the team’s gallery showing the photographs will appear for any completely new designs. If there are any letters appearing that are not available for a certain team yet, they were identified on last year’s set of orders found in a separate older thread.

I might be able to track Canada’s teams real-time alongside the FBS this year; in the past, I only did one post for U Sports, resulting in gaps in the more problematic teams like Saskatchewan and the RSEQ division.

The SMU helmet logo is not the "D" logo. The example picture clearly shows that the nose/mouth of the mustang has the red & white stripes, with only the remainder of the head and the neck in the blue w/ white stars.

Whoa, you're right... the flag in the new version is "wavier", so to speak. I just assumed the flag pattern was the same as the previous one, my bad.
