Thanks for the insight; I didn't know that the NAC was that restrictive. This move makes some sense, in light of that.

Another oddity is the fact that Maine Maritime is a full member of the North Atlantic Conference, yet wasn't a part of the NAC football conference when it was announced, nor is a part of this new replacement. They remain in the New England Football Conference, despite being a member of the NAC in all other sports.

Another strange thing about this is the fact that the new conference will receive an automatic D-III playoff bid after a couple of years.

Honestly, unless Castleton St. and Anna Maria plan to ramp up their new programs incredibly fast, there's only one school in this conference that comes even remotely close to being playoff-quality.

I would have rather seen them drop the two non-New England schools and add Springfield and Worcester Tech. It would work better, geographically, for everyone, and there'd be some higher-quality programs fighting for the automatic bid every year.
