Yep. The change was made in 2006. I posted above a photo of Tom Brandstater wearing a helmet with the new logo against Colorado State in 2006. If you take a look at the Fresno State Media guide for 2006, the photos were taken during the 2005 season and clearly show the old logo on the helmets (see M. McCauley in photo). Here's the 2007 media guide where you can clearly see that the Bulldog's head has been lifted to make room for the Green V medallion, and you can kind of make out the medalion itself if you zoom in enough: http://www.gobulldogs.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/fres/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/06-mg-covers

This fact check also brings up a good resource for helmet changes at FS - FS media guide covers. I think gobulldogs.com has them going back a number of years.
