All that research to replicate the appropriate shades, and they forget that the season was only 14 games back then!

I was a bit surprised to hear this. It had been my impression that the Buccaneers' fans strongly disliked the old uniforms, and associated them with the team's lack of success during its first two decades. I thought the Bucs might be the one team that never jumped on the throwback bandwagon.

Being something of a contrarian myself, the original Tampa Bay helmet is one of my favorite designs (along with the original Seahawks helmet that came into the NFL that same year, 1976). The now-abandoned orange, red, and white color scheme is unique among professional and college teams, to the best of my knowledge.

The new uniforms still sometimes get me confused with the 49ers and Falcons.
