One of the reasons Hawaii cited for leaving the WAC was the travel. IIRC they announced they were leaving right about the time UTSA & Texas St accepted their invites to the WAC. If the Rainbows had issue with travel to Texas and Lousiana (La Tech) I can't see them being ok with traveling to the Carolinas and West Virginia.

True, but if the divisions are large enough, they would be traveling to a team in the other division maybe once a year, possibly once every other year.

My take that the schools that are isolated could break away to form a new conference. Look at the three more isolated Eastern schools?

Marshall, East Carolina and UAB could get Temple, Buffalo and U. Mass from the MAC to form a new conference along with some of the eastern schools that are interested in upgrading plus some of the more easterly schools of the Sun Belt like the Florida schools and Troy to create a new more eastern conference.
C.-USA can raid the WAC and Sun belt to fill spots like La. Tech, North Texas, New Mexico State, UTSA and Texas State. MWC can take Idaho, San Jose State and Utah State to fill in as well to ease the cost of travel.

UTA would go to the Sun Belt Conference which could mean some other schools to upgrade in the reason like the Texas schools, Central Arkansas and Missouri State.

The none football schools in the WAC could keep the WAC brand, but be no more FBS level which could make it a good place to park the other none football sports for schools like San Diego State, Boise State and others can place.

As for the merger of the C-USA and MWC? Not going to last long like the Big East, the MAC and the Sun belt, plus the Big 12. Adding schools that does not fit in the region could cuase major financial issues plus make the football product become weaker. Look at how the SEC is working as being the strongest football conference? They are fit in the region perfectly. But, having Missouri in the east will cause problems since they do not fit in the east. They are west like Ole Miss and Miss. State. Alabama and Auburn belongs in the east. But they are more soundly than the Big East. West Virginia does not fit in the Big 12.
