While I guarantee this is low on your list of things to get to, I was poking around and looking at defunct Canadian college football teams. The Cape Breton Capers played a single season in 1990. Looks like white helmets with no logo and a darker colored facemask.

In one of the last pictures, the player on the ground with the ball appears to have a white mask though his teammate does not. Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks, actually I remember spending quite a bit of time unsuccessfully trying to find some information about that team a couple of years ago! So at least we now know that they apparently used plain white helmets.
