That makes at least three that I am aware of (Williams and Bowdoin, both in the NESCAC, have canceled all fall sports seasons). The rest of NESCAC is likely to follow, apparently.

It's hard for me to imagine that this is not going to snowball in the coming weeks. As more and more football teams cancel their seasons, the remaining teams will have fewer and fewer possible opponents, and if they get down to only having five or six games, I think many will just write off 2020 altogether.

I saw an article recently which stated that "99%" of NCAA Division I athletic directors thought that the 2020 football season would be played, but this seems extremely optimistic to me, and I would guess that there's only about a 50% chance that games will be played, because 1) the virus does not appear to be going away soon, particularly in the South and Southwest; 2) colleges and universities are going to be concerned about liability if they ask their football players to play games during a pandemic; 3) they will also be concerned about fans packed closely into the stadiums; 4) football is a relatively expensive sport and if the stadiums can't be packed to capacity with fans to offset the expense, it may not make sense to endure the risk of playing the games.

So if I had to guess, I would think NCAA 3
will not play football this year; Division II and NAIA probably will not, and I am less certain about Division I, which may try to play games in empty stadiums without fans (they can still get a big tv audience). But who knows? We are in uncharted territory.
