Subject: Anybody good at dating football helmets by their physical appearance?

Below is a link to a great photo at San Diego State's archives, showing what I think may be a previously "unknown" historical design for the team; unfortunately the photo is undated. I would think the multi-bar facemasks would ensure that this photo was taken after 1959 - am I correct?

Note also the three different facemask colors - white, gray, and a beige or tan color. Since these were often used simultaneously I generally lump them together for the puproses of the website as "gray" until a team uniformly adopted white or an actual color.

SDSU wore silver helmets from 1952-1962 with a red stripe (though in B&W photos the stripe looks like it could be black).

SDSU yearbooks from that era are online and will confirm this.

Also, the San Jose gold helmet you posted recently was worn from 1970-1972.
