Sorry to burst your bubble, but Daytona Beach beat Lubbock to it, LOL.

I couldn't find any documentation about the Thunderbirds folding; do you have any?

This is a little surprising: Financial debts have forced the Austin Wranglers into disbandment.

Thanks, everyone, for the reports.

Will there be any new AF2 teams in 2009? How about in the AFL?

Is the af2 still a major league? I feel like only the AFL should still be on the scroll down list. Way to much turnover recently.

I have nearly discontinued covering it in recent years, due to the fact that I rarely receive any information from the teams anymore (they contributed quite a bit of information way back in 2001-2002). A few people have asked me to keep including AF2 at the site, so I've left the pages up for now. I suspect that quite a few alternate helmet designs are going unreported for those teams, unfortunately.

I have at least learned, from covering AF2 (or attempting to), that I am certainly not interested in covering similar or lesser leagues!

Not in 2009, but in 2010, there will be a new af2 franchise in Toledo, Ohio.

Not true. The Milwaukee Iron will be joining the af2. Their website is at www.mkeiron.com I don't know of any others at this point.

Charles - I'll let you know if I see any new af2 designs. From last season, I saw every team (either live or via webcast) except Amarillo, Central Valley, Boise, Rio Grand Valley, and Texas. There were no changes you missed.

The af2 Albany Conquest changed their name to the Albany Firebirds, therefore retaining the history of the older Indiana-Albany franchise.

This will surely cause a problem with the current display, with Indiana/Albany in the AFL historical section.

just because the team takes the old name does not mean the history goes with it. no where in the article do they claim the history nor the league "rewrites" history

The party's over in New Orleans, as the AFL Voodoo have now folded permanently:

Not sure if this is helmet related or not. The Lexington Horsemen have been taken over by a non-profit group and have renamed themselves the Kentucky Horsemen. There is no talk of any helmet change, if any.
