I have received an email indicating that this college will be starting a football team in 2010, but I have not been able to locate any news releases or other confirming sources of information. Has anybody else heard anything about this?

They've got a poll question on their athletic's site asking people if they'd like to see a football program added.

Still, I'm skeptical about this one.

LeMoyne-Owen was having serious financial problems as recently as 2007 and at one point feared losing its accreditation. The school's website has occasional updates about recovering from these problems, but it's hard to say how much the current economic meltdown.

As nice as it would be to have a football program at LeMoyne-Owen, I'm not sure the school can afford it.
