And this link confirms that Missouri has indeed joined the SEC officially and will be integrated in as of July 1, 2012:

What was the reasoning behind putting Missouri in the eastern division? I had read earlier that Auburn was likely to be moved to the east, which would obviously make more sense geographically-speaking.

Moving Auburn to the east would force the Iron Bowl to be a cross-divisional game, which would end the permanent cross-divisional games for Auburn-Georgia and Alabama-Tennessee. Both of those games are very important rivalry games for those schools.

Maybe they can rename the divisions "southwest" and "northeast" to emphasize the now-diagonal divide between the two divisions.

Whoops, I guess Auburn-Georgia would become a divisional game in that scenario. Still though, Alabama-Tennessee is a very important game, it's been played nearly 100 times and neither school wants to see it go.

Has the SEC announced how they are going to do the interdivisional games? Are they planning to go to a 9-game conference schedule? It occurred to me that, if they don't go to a 9-game schedule, intradivisional teams are going to rotate off each others' schedules for ten years at a time! Using Georgia as an example, with an eight game conference schedule, six games against division opponents, and a permanent annual interdivision game vs Auburn, won't it take twelve years to rotate through a home-and-away series against the other six teams in the west division? Unless I'm missing something this can't be avoided unless the league goes to nine games, or does not play a full set of six intradivision games each year.

Not to pick on Missouri and Texas A&M, but do Florida or Georgia fans really want to play Missouri every year, but Alabama and Mississippi just twice every twelve years? Do LSU fans really want to play Texas A&M every year, but Tennessee and Vanderbilt just twice every twelve years? It seems to me that these larger leagues are going to really diminish a lot of the decades-old rivalries that have been established, even within groups of teams that remain intact (like the SEC).

They almost have to go to 9, I would think.

It's interesting because the SEC usually schedules fairly soft in non-conference so that if they accumulate 5-6 conference losses, they can still make a bowl game. For example, Mississippi State is 1-4 in conference right now, but thanks to non-conference wins over Memphis, UAB, La Tech, and Tennessee-Martin, they need just one more conference win (finishing 2-6 in conference) to make a bowl game.

Switching to a 9 game schedule will force one more competitive game on everyone's schedule and will guarantee 7 more losses per year for the conference overall (resulting in a net loss of maybe 5 to 6 games per year over the teams they are replacing if you take into account the fact that they would lose some of those lost non-conference games anyway). Will this negatively affect their conference strength? A 9-game schedule certainly hasn't helped the Pac-10 in the last few seasons. They've struggled to meet all of their bowl tie-ins recently.

And sadly, more conference games means teams will have fewer non-conference openings overall and they will avoid scheduling tough non-conference games even more. That's bad news for teams like Boise State looking to prove themselves against quality non-conference competition.

A lot of divisions and conferences are going to be misnamed because of this realignment. There's nothing Southeast about Missouri or Texas A&M, there's nothing East about any of the schools that the Big East is trying to add, there's nothing 10 about the Big 10, there's nothing 12 about the Big 12, there's nothing Pacific about Colorado or Utah, and there's nothing Atlantic or Coastal about Pitt or Syracuse.

Well I guess UCF and Navy are in the East, but you get my point.
