Subject: A Couple of Questions About Helmets

Was the NC State helmet just a one game design? I thought it looked really sharp, better than the white one they use.

Also, do you think Washington State is ever going to use that hideous gray on gray helmet?

I would say "nobody knows". A few years ago most teams would make a big announcement about using an alternate helmet design (and some still do) but there have been many "surprise" helmet designs the last couple of years, and since these do not arrive with any sort of "announcement" it is unclear whether they will be used again. But in NC State's case I would say the red helmets will very likely reappear - they are probably a completely separate set of helmets from the white ones, and the team would probably not have purchased a separate set just to use them for one game (though that situation has happened before). I think you'll see the red helmets again before the season is over, and probably in 2012, also. As I have said here previously I think the idea of a college team having one helmet design is becoming obsolete.

I've been wondering when that one would show up. I would guess at this point that they're saving it to use vs Washington in the last game of the season.
