The blue-outlined version was definitely NOT used in any games; again, my apologies. The optical illusion you mention basically comes from the contrast in the adjacent surfaces and finding the right exposure for the photo (this must be common in video, too, because I could have sworn the outline was visible on TV as well). Regardless, the blue-outline was NEVER used during the season; it only appeared on the pre-season helmets from the press conference....
