Subject: Point University (NAIA)

So I searched the archives on this board, and there was definitely debate about when Point University started using their helmet last year. They switched to a new one last year, but from this story on the football website from the first game of the 2012 season (which what the first season in school history), the helmet with the "P" logo and stripe are shown rather than the blank helmet with gray facemask.

And actually, here's an article from their first program win in 2011 when they were still a club team.

Hi Jason-

The issue with those photographs at many team web sites is that the photograph accompanying an article is often from some other game, rather than the one being discussed. I believe this is the case with both of the photos you mentioned. In the first photo you can see a dark "W" on the other team's helmets, and I believe that that team is Webber International, which Point did not play for several more weeks.

As for the second photo its url is

http://www.pointskyhawks.com/images/2012-13/IMG_0768.jpg

the "2012-13" part of the address suggesting to me that it was a photograph taken last year.

There is a gallery of labelled photographs at:

http://photos.jacksonville.com/mycapture/folder.asp?event=1522359&CategoryID=62957&ListSubAlbums=0

showing Point using plain blue helmets during that first game last year. I do not know when the "P" logo was added, but I believe that it was first used sometime last season rather than in 2011.

As I was typing that message, I was wondering why every picture looked like it was against the same team. So what you're saying makes sense. Let me try again? :-)

Photos from Game 2 against West Georgia (with a photo gallery at the bottom) showing the "P" helmets.

Obviously you'll still need a copy of the logo, but hopefully this can help clear up the dates!

Thanks, that does clarify that the "P" was added for the second game, though the stripe was not yet in use. Now we need to find out when the stripe was added...
