Subject: 2012 Redskins "Leather" Helmet

On November 4, 2012, the Redskins wore a plain brown helmet (approximating leather) with a black facemask against the Panthers. It was part of their 1937 throwback ensemble. Doesn't look like that helmet is reflected in the database.

That's incorrect.

The Redskins, as well as all other NFL teams, have been told to wear the same helmet shell for every game from now on due to concerns over not being able to "break in" specialty helmets in time for games. The Redskins wore their normal helmets without the stripes.

Whoops! Sorry, I thought you were referring to the game a couple of weeks ago. I didn't notice that it said 2012. Yes, you are correct, the Redskins wore those leathery helmets last year.

Right. Not the helmets they wore with their throwbacks this year. I'm talking about the plain brown helmets they wore against the Panthers on Nov. 4, 2012.
