Perhaps it's to show the depth of the problem of constant helmet changes and concussion prevention. The NFL is getting serious about it, and the NCAA better as well if they don't want huge legal problems.
I've got an idea that might work.
Teams could use the same helmet shell, but on occasions use a shrink wrap cover with different logos. Your would just have the pattern on the plastic, put it over the shell, and have it shrink down with a little low heat. Then once the game is over, you basically pull a zip tab on it would pull right off.
