A. College Basketball is not the same as war. "War" can be a useful metaphor for College Basketball, but it is NOT the same thing.

B. No one over on the VU board EVER said anything bad about getting in a player's face. Even Homer does that sometimes. We are talking about throwing chairs all over the place, choking a student in the halls, and other physical abuse that has NOTHING to do with making somebody a better ballplayer and has everything to do with stripping them of their manhood.

If I had a son that was thinking of playing for Bob Knight, I would say, if you really think you can handle a boot camp mentality (mandatory watching of "Full Metal Jacket" followed by, "are you ready to suffer that kind of abuse in order become a better basketball player? Can you keep your self-image intact under such duress? Are you sure?") then go with my blessings, but don't come back here crying about it later.

If on the other hand, says I to this hypothetical off-spring, you are open to other options, then you'll be better off under Homer Drew (for example).

Of course we can all call these our opinions (as if that needs to be pointed out). It is my position, and I stand by it. Your opinion on how much I need an enama (sp?) interests me not one bit.
