I'm so mad right now!!!

Have you ever been making a recipe and KNOW you forgot to add some ingredients, but there was nothing you could do about it???

I was making the caramel corn that Shirttails posted on Craftsayings a while back. It's delicious and I've made it several times before. My daughter was just coming in from college as I was finishing boiling the coating and I got distracted. I asked her to put a potholder between the pans on the table that I had forgot. As soon as she did, I took the coating and put it on all of the puffed corn...2 whole bags!!! Just as I was about to put it in the oven, I saw the vanilla and the baking soda I should have added when I got through with the boiling sitting on the counter!!! Oh, noooooo!!!
There was nothing I could do to fix it, so I'm cooking it without those ingredients added to the coating. I've had it in cooking for 30 min already and it tastes like Corn Pops cereal, so far. Not bad, but it makes me so mad that I forgot those ingredients cause now I won't know how it actually tastes using the Aldi puffed corn. Oh well, nothing I can do now, but cook it. I'll have to get some more to try it correctly! I am planning to make this for family for Christmas and wanted to try the Aldi puff corn because it was a lot cheaper and it was a bigger bag than the brand name ones. We may not have caramel corn, but at least we'll have cereal!!! LOL!!!
I got a little bit madder when, after typing this all out, I promptly deleted the whole message!!! Grrrr!!! Is it too early to go to bed??? I'm afraid to make supper now! LOL!!!
Thanks for letting me let off some steam!!!
Patty

It's now finished and it isn't bad, but I know it isn't right. Oh, it WILL get eaten around here, but had my mouth all ready for the correct caramel corn.
In case anyone missed the recipe on Craftsayings, here's the link from the archives with the recipe and other tips.

Sorry to hear about your woes. It must be the weather. We lost one of our 'outside' dogs today. He must have been in a dog fight & lost. Poor thing. I will miss him as he was my only true watch dog. The others are just too friendly. So we are down to 7, all of them dropped off in the country by irresponsible pet owners, except one.

How did the popcorn turn out? Gooey? Hard as the back of your head? It will be edible, just not what you had a hankerin' for. (((hugs)))

Jazz I too am sorry about the loss of your dog. I do know that is hard. Patty do try it again as it is really good. I made some and took it to a family reunion and it was gone but I think It was too much syrup for one bag. I will be making more you can bet on that.

Sorry to hear about your watch dog, Jazz! Maybe one of the other 7 will take over his job.

Well, the Corn Pops turned out wonderful! Only problem was, was that it was supposed to be caramel corn, not cereal!!! LOL!!! They aren't too bad really, just not like they're supposed to taste, but not bad. I was afraid they'd be one big clump of puffed corn, like a giant popcorn ball the size of a roaster pan!!! It wasn't and they're not hard as a rock either. They broke apart just like it was supposed to and is still loose today in the baggie. So, they're not a total loss, at all...and still edible. I will make it again...correctly, because I know how good it is that way.

Linda, I always use 2 bags of corn and it is perfectly coated (when made correctly!).

I want to share the recipe with my family so bad, but am trying to keep it a secret till Christmas. Boy, this is hard to do.

Heidi had to ask me last night when I was making supper if I'd put all the ingredients in it. Smarty pants!!!
