Subject: ANYBODY FROM ALABAMA?

My sister just visited Gadsden(sp?) Alabam, and was standing under a tree for shade..we are not used to heat.LOL! Anyway, I will try to describe this tree as best as I can...the tree was very tall, had thicker, sort of waxy, oval leaves, and there was something like a cone growing on the tree, and the cones has little red pods(berries?) Now keep in mind this is how she described this tree to me...she just needs to know what kind of tree it was....does anyone know?
Thanks for your help!
