Subject: Knitted slippers

Photobucket

Everyone loves these slippers and they are so easy to make.
Takes me under 5 hours to complete a pair.
Decorate as you like with a pom-pom, felted flower or
anything else. As you can see my kids like them just the
way they are or maybe it's that they know it will take a
couple of months before I get around to deciding how to
finish them off. lol
The pattern below fits an average sized adult foot.
To make bigger or smaller just adjust the number of
stitches and rows. Keep in mind that the
slippers will stretch so you do need to make them a
little smaller than your foot size.

Adult size pattern
3 balls (50gm) of 8ply yarn
#5 needles

Using 3 strands of yarn together cast on 34 stitches.
1st row : Knit
2nd row : k11, p1, k10, p1, k11
Repeat these 2 rows 19 times casting off 1 st at each end on the 27 row.
Knit 11 rows
Cut yarn leaving a tail of about 1 foot.
Draw yarn through stitches and pull up tightly.
Sew the circle closed (or you will have cold toes) (see pair on right extreme)
Slip stitch the edges together till you get to cast off stitch.
Fold the cast on edge in half and sew together.

Children sizes about 8yrs

Cast on 28stitches
!st row : knit
2nd row : k9, p1, k8, p1, k9
Repeat these 2 rows till 34 rows, casting off 1 st each end of row 21
Knit every row 9 times
Thread yarn through stitches and sew up.

Thanks very much for the pattern, Bernadette.
They look so comfortable and I'm printing it out as I type.
Still cold here. Love to knit some.
Thank you!

Glad to have something to share.

It is 34°C (93.2°) today and I went out to buy yarn to make myself a pair. I will wait till it cools down before I start knitting.

Julie, I don't see why you can't use crochet, all you need is a rectangle. Fuzzy picture of 2 different sizes.

Just not sure how you would get the lines that seperate the sides from the sole. I hope you can work something out.
