Subject: OT Message for Kathy & Patty & anyone interested in the plastic ban results

Thank you for your replies regards plastic bags
I did smile when you said that no one was using the re usable bags. Now that we have a complete ban on plastic bags, we have no choice, take or own reusable bags or buy some in the shop.

Unless of course we can manage to carry everything in our hands
A new problem has emerged. We have green canvas bags, environmentally friendly, on sale in the supermarkets..
Some people dispike the colour. So now you have a choice of pink, orange, purple, black etc However shoplifting has increased. Because people put things in their bags & then claim that they had bought them in a previous shop.
So obviously we have to retain our receipts.
I must say th efirst time clothing is presented to you in your bare hands, it is a shock
Fay

I'm from NSW we don't have a complete ban on the plastic bags...YET...in all stores...BUT...ALDI - you have to buy their shopping bags if you don't have your own...Target - you have to supply your own or purchase one of theirs if you want a bag & Spotlight - they don't supply a plastic bag anymore either.

I am not even allowed to place customers purchases in a plastic bag at my market stall.
I think overseas you may call it a "booth" & only put horses in a "stall"

I don't think it will be long before our plastic bags are banned here. The stores here have their reuseable bags printed in their own colors and logos. I don't like that either but guess that would deter some shoplifting. Shoplifting happens regardless though. I wouldn't mind using their bags but I refuse to pay for them.

As for ALDI, I don't care to shop there. I walked into our store last Saturday and it smells so bad that I'm afraid to buy anything. Besides not having the bags they charge 25 cents to use a grocery cart. I couldn't believe that!

By the way, what is a SPOTLIGHT store? I haven't heard of them here.

Kathy in OK: "Spotlight" is the name of a large haberdashery type of store they sell - fabric, crafting things, towels, bedsheets, curtains, vases, dinner sets & various other bits & pieces of stuff.

Kathy in OK,
I'm sorry your Aldis isn't a nice store. I love my store. yes you put a quarter in to use the cart but when you return it you get your quarter back. I love their products. their ketchup tastes just like Heinz and is soooo much cheaper. my family is loves their ranch salad dressing, spaghetti sauce, bacon ranch pasta salad mix and of course their fruit and vegetables are usually wpnderfullm I think you should call the store and speak to the store manager and tell him what you thought. it might make some changes happen fast. if not call the corporate office.

Wendy,
This was the third or fourth time I've been in there and haven't bought any groceries or produce. A co-worker encouraged me to buy a CD/Radio/Alarm clock last Fall and it quit working about a month ago. I really liked it but was disappointed because it didn't last long.

I'll give the store one more try. But I'm not in a hurry to go back.

I love Aldi's stores. The town I live in now doesn't have one, so I stock up when I am near one. There are some products I don't care for, but that is preference. I usually shop the outer aisles. Love their spaghetti sauce, refrigerated items (not particularly the sliced lunch meat in sealed packages), and freezer items. They have some really good buys. The Aldis that I go don't charge for the carts...same thing, deposit a quarter and get it back when you put it where it belongs. It helps to keep the parking lot clean of carts, they don't have to hire someone to do that (brings our prices down).

The store stocks in boxes or box lids, but our stores have not had an odor. Sorry your experience has been bad.
