Subject: CrockPot MeatLoaf ???

Has anyone ever made their meatloaf in the crockpot ? Don`t laugh but last night was the first time I ever cooked a roast in the crock and it was sooooo good. I always make the same meatloaf off the oats box so I wondered if anyone made the meatloaf and if it cooks ok.

Hi Julie- I have made CrockPot Meatloaf and will not do so again. The moisture from the CrockPot made the meat so moist and had the consistency of mush when you ate it. At least that's what happened with my "CrockPot Meatloaf." Then again maybe cooking on Low all day had something to do with it! Joann

Mine have always been mushy too! Plus I don't like it cuz it sits in the grease and makes it taste fowl! I keep looking for a rack to fit in my crock pot hoping that may help some of the food to stay up a bit from liquid.

Julie: Thank you for the welcome. I've been checking in on your site for quite a while now, and just got up the nerve to type. I sure didn't want you to waste your time and effort on a "Meatloaf" that no one would want to eat.
Snuffles: I have a rack in my crock pot/slow cooker so the Meatloaf was on the rack...it still turned out Mushy. I'll stick to the oven....Joann

Thanks Joann. I will now stop hunting for a rack if it doesn't help. I was only hunting at the thrift shops so it may have take awhile longer. hehehehehe
