Hi Patty: I thought of you and how you like to craft for your niece "Karen" maybe one of these school crafts would be worth saving for future use.

Thank you, Joann!!! Those are so cute and I'm sure Karen would love them, too. I just got 8 count pkgs of pencils yesterday at Office Depot for 25c per pack, with the intention of donating them. There was a limit of 3 pkgs. That pencil wreath sure wouldn't cost much to make if you could get all the pkgs needed at 25c per pack!

I haven't crafted any this whole year, especially, with my Mom and Dad's health problems. Dad came home last Thurs and that has made things a little bit easier, by not having to run to the nursing home, but now, I'm running to their house! It's closer than the nursing home was. I got called to go there 3 times on Sunday. One call TERRIFIED me...Dad fell while Mom was gone!!! Luckily, he had the phone with him and he could remember my phone number! His hands are very shakey and he misdialed us one time, tried my brother's house, got a wrong number, then, tried mine again and got me. The house phones are now programmed with us kids' numbers. He was OK from the fall, but couldn't get up! Danny and I flew up there in about 5 min time, usually about a 10 min trip! We stayed till Mom got home after that! Scared me to death!!!
I told Mom that I would go stay with him, if she needed to go somewhere. I went up today while she went to the store. I filled up his medicine pill box while I was there. He is on a lot of meds!
He's going to have cataract eye surgery in Sept, so he can see again! He's ready to read all the western books I got him at a used book sale recently. He tries to read the newspaper everyday, but mostly can only read the bigger headlines. He told me today that he works the puzzle with effort, but he has to close one eye! LOL!!!

I know things WILL get easier as he gets stronger. Taking care of his "new" needs are new to us, too. It's sure taking ALL of us right now.

Thank you again for the school crafts, Joann!!!
Patty

Hi Patty~

I'm sorry to hear your Dad is having a time of it and I'm sure he's "Thankful" that your close by to come to his aid. It's not easy but I did this for my Dad too and have no regrets.

I don't know if this would be of help to your Dad, but we got one of these for my 86 year old Uncle Bob who has eye problems with Macular Degeneration. It's helpful to him for reading the newspaper etc.

I'm glad you liked the school crafts and just maybe when things calm down you'll be able to craft again.

Take Care of Yourself..you've been in my thoughts.
Hugs~ Joann

Thank you, Joann, for the suggestion. I will have to look around town here to see if anyone has one. Maybe one of the office supply stores or used bookstore here will have one. That might get him by till he has his eye surgery. He LOVES to read, but hasn't been able to since his surgery the day after Easter. The eye surgery is one surgery he REALLY wants to have...ASAP!
Thank you again!
Patty

You're Quite Welcome Patty. I hope that maybe this would be of help to your Dad and at least let him read the daily newspaper.

Take Care~ Joann
