Subject: Would like some help with a silly idea

Joann mentioned in an eariler post that she was suffering from 'housetophobia'. I have a similar ailment: cabin fever. So, the way my mind does or does not work, I thought it would be funny to see what we could come up with as a gag gift for cabin fever. I'll begin:

- a large outdoor thermometer (for taking my temp, of course)
- a new craft with instructions & materials
- chocolate anything
- a good book to read & a new fancy bookmark

What are your suggestions? (((hugs)))

Here are a couple more:

- games
- word search, suduku, crossword puzzle books
- something green: potted plant, new flower seeds to plant, start seeds for the garden inside, etc.

What would you want in your cabin fever basket, gift, etc?

Sorry; I keep thinking of new things.

- a new movie
- a new CD
- a fancy, scented candle
- herbal tea & a new mug
- soup, new bowl, gourmet crackers
- Notepad + Pen: You can come up with the craziest ideas when you are bored, so take advantage of your altered state.
- confetti - to add some sparkle
- new, colorful socks

have someone give you some strange ingredient to make a meal, dessert, drink whatever....different teas to try, cookie exchange would be fun. Make some potpourri with apple or orange peels and cinnamon and spices.....Keep a child amused for an hour:) keep them coming..... ginnyp

Make and send Sunshine cards. They always help to brighten someone's day.

With cabin fever comes boredom, so I sent a few friends some shipping tags with one I made that said "Tag You're It" and now they get to play with the tags to use on cards or scrapbook pages.

Hi Jazz-

I've not been bored in the last 3 days...been taking care of my grandson. I'll be leaving in a few minutes for our "today's adventure." Adam's teaching me how to make those Rainbow Loom Bracelets...he's got 2 of them and has them all ready for when I arrive.

Yesterday I came home all upset...lost my Gold Wedding Band. I searched everywhere I had been at Adam's house and at my house too. It's the 2nd time it's slipped off my finger in the past 2 months. I was so sick and upset and about 6 o'clock I opened the refrigerator and thought how I had been grocery shopping the night before...I opened the drawer with the lunchmeat and cheese and low and behold there was my ring in between the packages of cheese. Needless to say it's now tucked away until this weather warms up and it will be snug again.

Well I've got to run now...just had to share what this "winter weather" .. "cabin fever" & "housetophobia" has meant to me this week!

Take Care & Hugs~ Joann

Joann, I am so glad you found your ring. In cold weather my rings can easily slip off too, so I know that fear.

Ladies, thanks for the suggestions. sorry I did not respond sooner, but DH was home from work for 2 2/1 days. when he is home, I get very little done.

Joann, what a story! My SIL lost her wedding ring, while working in the garden. She was frantic. Her DH went out at night with a flashlight, & went through the whole garden. He finally found it. Glad you did, too. (((hugs)))

Hi Jazz~

Your sister has a good husband too. I know how she felt..you can't replace something that has so much sentimental value.

The other time I lost the ring and had to retrace my steps was right before Christmas. I went back to Michaels and to Bed Bath and Beyond with my husband on a late Friday afternoon...checking parking lots where I parked and going through every area of both stores that I was looking at things. I remember having the car window down that day and my hand was tossing a piece of lint out of the window at a traffic light not far from home. My husband even went to that area and parked his car and walked the roadway..no luck there. He even went to the jewelery store to see if they still had the same style ring...no luck. Needless to say I was so upset that I didn't want to go out anywhere shopping that Friday night.

Later that evening we went out to the Family Room and to my surprise...my Wedding Band was sitting on the sofa cushion. I guess it came off the night before when I was crocheting and never noticed it. To say I was "Happy" and relieved was an understatement.

I have my Wedding Band tucked away for now and not wanting to go through that again. You know the old saying .. one two three strikes your out. I'm not going to temp it again.

All's Well That Ends Well for us 2 lucky girls!

Take Care and Hugs~ Joann
