Best Cupid Moment: Cord McCoy wasn’t the first cowboy to propose to his girlfriend at a PBR event – that honor goes to Dusty LaBeth, who did so this past spring – but McCoy engineered his marriage proposal to Sarah in Las Vegas while appearing as a guest of Flint Rasmussen on his Out of the Barrel show at the Fan Zone.

Thanks to Mrs. Labeth for this update on Matt

I talked to Matt last night, and he sounds really good. Said he has a steel plate in his lower jaw and braces on his lower teeth, but they did not have to wire his mouth shut, and he talks very clearly and is able to eat soft stuff - said his mom made him a big pot of chicken/noodles. Mom and Dad are coming home today. Said his teeth and his shoulder blade hurt, but other than that, he is feeling good.

And good News for Dusty. He won the event last night in Goodland KS!

Dust off a place in the Top 30: Veteran Dusty LaBeth has had his promising career stalled by a series of injuries, but he’s hoping that’s a thing of the past. As a Top 5 money earner on the Challenger Tour, LaBeth has earned a chance to ride at 5 BFTS events in an attempt to make his way into the Top 30 in the world. In his first event, the Nampa Invitational, he rode three of four bulls, and in Round 1 of The NILE Invitational in Billings, he got yet another qualified score to improve his riding percentage to 80 percent. With back-to-back three-day events and with the confidence LaBeth has, the 29-year-old from Kansas has a real opportunity to make a strong run at earning a guaranteed spot on the tour.

Normally, I don't feed into gossip and little games and what not, but I have to admit something has been eating away at me and I just have to ask. It really is none of my business so if I do not get a response that is perfectly fine; however, I wanted to ask just the same.

Did Dusty go and get married or engaged? Again, normally I don't care about things like that but I was curious. Privacy is privacy so if it is not public knowledge that perfectly okay.

More importantly I am just really excited to see him back on tour. He's been riding awesomely.

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 31, 2009) - Kansas cowboy Dusty Labeth (Louisburg, Kan.) not only won the only minor-league event of the weekend, but also earned enough money to qualify for the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS). Labeth will compete at the next five BFTS events including this weekend’s event in Nampa. Stay tuned as the PBR Minor League Tours sweep the nation to determine who has the potential to compete on PBR’s elite tour!

Results from this past weekend Discovery Tour:

1) Dusty Labeth (Louisburg, Kan.) 174 points, $2,963; 2) Caleb Sanderson (Kissimmee, Fla.) 173 points, $2,162; 3) Clay Taylor (Sayre, Okla.) 163.5 points, $1,361; 4) Ben Jones (Sunset, Texas) 87 points, $1,522.

Hill out; LaBeth moves up
BFTS makes third cut of the season

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 1, 2009) - Avoiding the cut has been an uphill battle for some cowboys.

Beau Hill is the latest rider to be cut from the Built Ford Tough Series. The 30-year-old from Montana finished the weekend in 31st place in the world standings, a mere 51 points behind McKennon Wimberly.

As a result, Hill, who is in 32nd place in the Copenhagen Bull Riding Challenger Tour standings, will now have to earn approximately another $4,000 or more at the lower level events in order to work his way back onto the BFTS as an alternate.

The PBR administrates cuts every five events.

The Top 30 BFTS riders – as the standings indicate today – are now locked in for the next five events, along with the Top 5 money earners from the Challenger tour who are not already ranked in the Top in the world.

Because of the lower-level earnings, which includes international money, Pete Farley, Jock Connolly, Dusty Ephrom, Dusty LaBeth and Nick Landreneau will be guaranteed the next five events to work their way into the Top 30, otherwise they will have to simultaneously maintain their lead on the Challenger tour.

LaBeth, who won more than $2,900 this past weekend at a Discovery event in Palestine, Texas, will make his first appearance at a 2009 BFTS event this weekend. The 29-year-old is a three-time qualifier for the PBR World Finals and his best season was 2001, when the Kansas native finished 19th in the world.

Last weekend, two of the Top 30 riders – Ryan Dirteater, 10, and Brian Herman, 27 – missed the Albuquerque event due to injuries. This coming week in Nampa two other riders – Mike White, 19, and Mike Lee, 22 – will also miss the event along with them.

With four riders out because of injuries, 26 of the 40 slots are filled with the top-rated riders in the world. The next five will be the top money earners from the Challenger tour along with another spot in the draw being filled by Aaron Roy, who is using his one and only injury exemption after missing the Birmingham event three weeks ago.

That leaves room for eight alternates.

Those spots – in order of their qualification based on money earned on the Challenger tour – will be filled by Ben Jones, L.J. Jenkins, Jody Turner, Reese Cates, Michael Manes, Rocky McDonald, Clayton Baethge and Tanner Girletz.

While the BFTS Top 30 qualifiers and the Top 5 money earners from the Challenger tour are locked in for the next five events, the alternate list is updated on a daily basis based on money won at any point in time.

That is precisely why, two weeks ago, Jenkins and Cates elected to pass on a BFTS alternate position in effort to improve their overall Challenger standings.

NEWS AND NOTES

Pee Wee’s big adventure: Brian Herman is expected to return to the BFTS in two weeks for The NILE Invitational presented by Cooper Tires, which will take place in Billings. At that time, he will have missed six events because a fracture of his left ankle. Currently the 38-year-old, 15-year pro is still ranked 27th in the world.

Mike and Mike on the Injury Report: Mike Lee will miss this weekend’s event in Nampa with a bruised thigh and Mike White will miss the event as well with a right shoulder sprain.

I am just wanting to make sure that I understood the article correctly. It almost sounds like Dusty plans on this being his last year. Is this true? I know that the article said that he wanted to make enough money to retire by thirty, but that it didn't look too forthcoming (or something to that nature). However, it still almost sounds like he plans on this being his last year.

I kind of hope that is not true, but I know that he has to do what is best for him. I wish him all the best with the season and whatever the future has in store for him.

I don't know this Dusty guy, but someone using his yahoo id, the bullrider ID was attempting to talk to me on yahoo. I was not at the computer, and my son was - I told him to ask him who he was and give me his screen name on a site he said he uses (that I am on).
When I told my son to not accept his photo share invite he spewed out all kinds of evil comments about me .. thank God I had moved my son out of the way before they came thru.
I've reported them to Yahoo and forum admin, but I see people on here have posted about the poser in the past too.
I don't know who Dusty is, but this guy can't be him.
Ugly ugly mouth .. and especially when he thought my son was the recipient.

The Lebeth family is a class act. While attending the rough stock clinic in Richmond KS I had the honor of meeting Rodger and Susie Labeth. The famly is so connected to each other. Dusty teaches these young boys more then just bull riding. He teaches through example how to ride with heart. The pride and passion he has for his profession is displayed in his teaching. After meeting Rodger, Susie & Dusty, I was reminded why I scrub cow poop from wranglers. Spend hours on the internet looking for a steer rope. Make my 16th attempt to get through for a rodeo call in. Drive 4 hours to the middle of nowhere KS for a youth rodeo. Just to do it all over again next week. We do it bacause we love our cowboy. Thank you Labeth family for showing a rodeo mom the way.

Dusty will be in Salina KS on Saturday..

He will be going to the Dr for a check up and hopefully to get the screws taken out of his leg. If they take out the screws He will be out for a few weeks to heal but he should feel much better and come back ready to ride. He really hates to take the time out to do it but he really need to have the screws taken out so he will feel better and ride better..

I will keep you updated

I don't want to add salt to a wound by bringing it up, but I wanted to say that I am very sorry to see that Dusty has been cut from BFT events. I was looking really forward to being able to see him ride in Kansas since that will be the first live event I'll get to see this season. I know that the determination he has will have him back in on the tour before we know it, but I know that it still has to be discouraging. I hope all is well and look forward to seeing his name back on the roster.

Hi Marie..Sorry I didn't post Dusty's results for Kearney.
He rode his first bull but bucked off in the short go..The good news is...he said: Overall, he feels great - a little sore, but nothing too bad..
He will be going back to Matt Bohon's house to get on some practice bulls the next two weeks and then on to NYC!

I could not be more thrilled to hear that Dusty is back and feeling pretty good. What a sweet guy -- my husband and I live in Virginia Beach, and we met Dusty in Las Vegas in 2005. He was terrific. My Mom suffered from a broken femur and had a rod implanted; however, she's 84 and doing great, thank God. I know what an injury this is, but Dusty is young and strong.

We are so happy to hear he is back riding. This must have been a long and difficult time, but when you have a wonderful family, friends and all that love and support, we can do anything.

We will be watching for you and cheering you on. Happy Trails!

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that the last two events haven't gone in Dusty's favor. I just hope that he's not getting too discouraged. It's still early in the season and I think that things will start to look up once he gets back in the groove.

Dusty is feeling great. He goes back to the doctor in three weeks and hope the bone has filled in. He is really wanting to get on some bulls.

My husband and I were watching when you were injured. We were very sorry, too many of you boys are out right now with serious injuries. Glad to hear that your surgery went well and that you are home where your "Mama" can take good care of you. We all need our "Mama's"! We are big PBR fans and follow everyweek from home and have been lucky enough to go to the finals in '03 and '04. Take care and follow the doctors instructions. Look forward to seeing you back in the chutes, also love watching your dad ride from behind. That must be a rush, watching your kid from behind the chutes.

Dusty,

Thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery. We were watching on OLN when this ride occurred. We met you in Las Vegas in 2005; in fact, you were the first rider we had ever met in person, since you were first after the bullfighters. You were so nice and sweet and commented you had not ever been to Virginia Beach -- we were in Hampton (about 18 miles from us here at the Beach) for the Enterprise Tour PBR and saw Tony Mendes, Paulo Crimber, Tater Porter, Lee Aiken and Ross Johnson. It was great to see them and be up close like that, but nothing like seeing the BFTS.

Keep your chin up, take care of yourself, and you will be back before you know it. We're thinking of you and wanted you to know it. So sorry this happened to you.

Should you get to this area and ever need anything, get in touch; my husband and I would love to assist you or any of the guys while in the area.

Hi, Dusty...I'm sorry you've hit such a snag this year. I was there when the injury happened and I gotta tell you, it brought tears to my eyes to hear you cry out from the dirt. I know you're in the best hands with Tandy and his colleagues.....please know that there are a lot of people out here who care about you even though we may never have met you except at the arena's edge after an event. Dusty, I got a call from my friend Kris this weekend to tell me you were hurt bad. I was unable to watch the PBR so I didn't get to see it and I'am glad I didn't. I'am praying that you can heal up fast and get back on them bulls and have a good year. Beckie I will call you this weekend ttyl.

The surgery went good. He slept most of the afternoon yesterday. He had a rough night last night- had a bad headache..He is feeling much better today. Susie, Dusty's Mom, said he was sitting out in the hall waiting on the nurse to bring him crutches a minute ago..
Dusty is hoping to be going home tomorrow.

I know one of Dusty's favorite things to do is eat his Mom's cooking so I'm sure she will have something good waiting on him.

YES, Dusty is 'still together with his girlfriend'. She works very hard and is very successful in her line of work, which prevents her from being at all the events. She supports him fully and watches on OLN every event that she does not attend. And, usually, she does not sit with the wives or girlfriends, but with her own friends that attend to support her and Dusty.

Dusty was severely injured last night, in the competition. He suffered a bad break, to his right femur, in his leg. He was transported to the hospital, from what Tandy said, he was supposed to have surgery, that night, due to the severity of the break. He could be out for quite some time. I will keep you all updated as soon as I can, just keep Dusty in your prayers. Dusty, hang in there, we're all praying for you, and we're behind you 100% in your recovery.

Hey Beckie me and a friend were checking out some cowboys on westernmatch.com and we stumbled across a profile(Wibullrider2)who i believe is using Dusty's picture for his profile. Just thought you could pass the message along the information doesn't match Dusty's stats and i just think its wrong that this guy is using his pictures. i don't know if you could let Dusty know so he can get it off of there or anything but i just thought he should know. Beyond the Bull premiered on TLC tonight. I thought it was really good. It shows the guys out on the road and also at their homes with their families and their significant others. Just wondering if anybody else watched and what they thought of it. The PBR website shows Dusty with a concussion at Minneapolis and their saying he is possible for Charleston this weekend. Hopefully he's doing better and ready to get back into the action. If he does it will be good to see him. He's one of my favs! Does anyone know if Cory Rasch has a girlfriend or is married? My friend Nikki just loves him so I promised I would ask

Dusty hung in there and stayed on the BFST tour for the beginning of the season..He is feeling good and ready to start the season..

How many of you know about the tragic story of Emile Griffith? Emile was championship boxer until the day he killed Benny “The Kid” Paret in the ring. Some say Benny brought the pounding he took in that match to himself because of the constant taunts he would make towards Emile. I am so glad that I got the chance to go to the Amarillo PBR event, back in July, because I got the chance to meet several of my favorite bullriders, which of course included Mike Lee, Adriano and Allan Moraes, Dusty LaBeth, Ednei Caminhas, Dan Henricks, and Cody Hart. I also saw Greg Crabtree, and I met him. The other bullfighter I saw was Rob Smets, but I did not get a chance to meet him. The event overall was the best one I ever got a chance to see, and I was impressed with the event, and I hope they come back next year, cause I will defiantly go back next year. PBR Rules in my life, and it always will. At the event, Adriano was so sweet, and I am so glad that he's my friend, plus Mike Lee is also my friend too. Dusty is awesome, he is a wonderful bullrider, and meeting him, was the best moment of my life, I got to meet my longtime crush, I loved it!!! Meeting Dan Henricks, was a treat too, he's awesome.

I have been following you for the past couple fo years, you are a great bull rider. Whenever I watch the PBR i'm always yealing and screaming for you to do good. You probably get this alot you are a very attrative person. All the ladies probably tell you that. I'm trying to get back into barrel racing but with school and working all the time it's kind of hard to do that. I love my horses they are special animals. Oh my goodness! I would most definately marry Dusty if I had a chance. is he currently seeing anyone? we met at the Cabela's signing in Kansas City last weekend, and he let me take a picture of the two of us, and he whispered in my ear, "Now, you better hold me tight!" and I sure did!

I was at the autograph signing last weekend in Kansas City, and I have to say that Dusty is just...AWESOME! I waited for him to sign autographs, and I must say he was well worth the wait! Hi, first of all, good job on the website - I need help with mine, Becky you reckon you could come down here and assist me with mine ;)

Question that I had asked earlier - do you think you guys could get all the famous Rodeo Stars to come do a show in Sydney - Australia? I know some of our boys from Australia ride in your circuit...but I reckon if you guys came to Sydney, you'd be a HUGE hit! I'd be promoting you guys big time.

I recently went to Texas and missed out on the Rodeo, I was shattered, never been to one but I'd love to go to one if not many! I'm looking forward to going back to Texas for many a visits.

So Becky, please please pretty please I'm hoping you can convince Dusty and the rest of the blokes to get down here!!!

PS Becky, being ignorant and all, are you related to Dusty??? And if Dusty isn't married, wow he should come to Sydney, he'd be beating women off with a twig! Would love to hear from you.

Hey all from Canada. I noticed that you can get a autographed photo of Dusty if you e-mail them and ask for the address. Well I wrote about two weeks ago and no one has e-mailed me the address yet. Does anyone know it? I want to get it for my best friends son's Clint's birthday(you know something different) and it's in May. I live in Nova Scotia and there are no rodeos here. I can't get to any events and he is the only one I've noticed who does this. I can't get to a computer often, but if anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it.

Hey everybody... I know that this might ruffle some feathers, but I was just wondering if Dusty has a girlfriend? I go on Justin McBride's board sometimes and anytime anyone mentions the word girlfriend, it sends an uproar throughout the entire board about how we should all be concerned about just the professional side of the guys. But sometimes, as fans, we feel like we know the guys on more of a personal level and so I was just wondering? Hope this question doesn't offend anyone... thanks! Glad to see you back Dusty!

Hi Guys...He's at it again probullrider_99 on Yahoo is pretending to be Dusty...he even went as far as to say he had truck problems and needed money...Please don't send this guy money....It is NOT and I can't stress enough it is Not Dusty or any other PBR Cowboy..
Please dont beleive what guys say in chat rooms unless you very sure of who it is....
