Subject: hoopjunkie with no clue

This is why I'll never be on Tony's board again, because I'd responding to posts like this:

From hoopjunkie:

1) This game HAS to be at the TUC every year. Are you going to turn away 8,000 fans because UA wants the game at the SEFCU?? Tonights crowd seemed about 60/40 Siena. Hey, 5,000 fans cheering UA on is good enough. Siena NEVER needed this game, but they played it for the area fans and this series has to continue with a larger allotment of tickets to UA season ticket holders.

2.) Siena was clearly the more talented team. UAlbany only has one reliable scorer (Wilson) that I could see. Lillis is a great role player but not someone that's going to carry you into the promised land.

3.) UAlbany HAD to play zone all night. There's no way they can guard Siena man-to-man. EVERY position was an advantage to Siena in quickness. Siena never should have stopped pressing. When they did, their lead evaporated.

4.) Good to see Jackson get his feet wet, but Fran didn't want to push it in such in a big game. He'll be fine. Priestly won't play at all this year, so maybe we should REDSHIRT him!? He'd be a monster when he's a 23 year old senior.

5.) TUC + CONCESSIONS= NO CLUE!!!! The line at EVERY counter was 50 people deep all night. Not because of numbers, but because how slow and unprepared they are as a staff. I didn't see a single vendor (for anything!) all night, in any aisle?!!? If they had any idea what thye were doing they would have made $20,000 MORE than they did!!

My response:

To #1: You would never tell it was 60/40 Siena fans listening to the crowd on the radio. Sounded 70/30 to me based on volume of the crowd - in favor of UAlbany. And if UAlbany brought 5,000 people, that means there were 8,300 Siena fans there......where were they when they had a Top 20 team in town two weeks ago?

To #2: Who cares about "reliable scorers" - what the hell does that mean? Ever hear about balance? UAlbany had five guys with 7 or more points....just like Siena. As for Lillis...yeah, he'll never lead anyone to the promise land - I guess being the starting point guard on two NCAA tournament teams doesn't qualify.

To #3: Well, Will Brown said they played man-to-man for the first 15 minutes of the first half, which he said he then mixed in a match-up zone (which is similar to man-to-man), he used a box-and-one and a triangle-and-two....they never sat in a straight zone all night.

To #4: Glad to know you knew Fran didn't want to push Jackson. What tipped it off? Jackson being on the shelf for the last four weeks?

To #5: It is your home arena.

Good God.

I contacted the TUC about the concessions' wait times. They told me that the delays were caused by all the people trying to pay with food stamps. And then, got very suspicious when someone tried to pay with cash. Next year they promised to have a seperate food stamp line.
