Subject: Nostalgia in Riverdale Tonight

Will seem like old times tonight at Manhattan when CCNY comes in for a pre-season game. There was a time when these teams, NYU & others were national powerhouses.

While the game means zilch, it can be a little preview of things to come. Manhattan squeaked by NY Tech last year in a similar game and their scoring dark hole was exposed. IONA last year lost to Rhode Island State at the same time, and you know what happened to them.

Rohrssen needs talent fast next year or else he will reek of Leonards Disease, which is terminal.

I don't see these discusions as "haters". Rohrssen has brought in ZILCH (hey, he has AT LEAST TWO-WALK-ONS ON HIS ROSTER) which tells me he can't fill it out with talent. Lappas, Fraschilla & Gonzalez cleaned up with MAAC+ players. Barry grabs crumbs and L'Africanes.

All he has left is Austin and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in IONA next year. From what I saw last year & read about this year, there is NOTHING in the Bronx this season.

Did you see the same 10 maac wins in his first year that I did ?

Did you see one of the best pg's in the maac as a freshman in pearson ? Top 3 in pts, assists, assit to turnover ration and steals in maac. AS A FROSH. W/ exception of Frank Turner he led all other freshman.

Did you see the CHSAA scoring leader in Crawford - who was snatched right out from the greasy hands of FU land in Riverdale ?

Did you see a coach that won't bend to the whim of punks like dubuois regardless of how much they kicked their feet and panted like little girls ?

Did you see the 2 year Long Island player of the year land in Riverdale in Green this year ?

Did you see one of the best inside players in the CHSAA in Gabriel land in the Bx this year.

Did you see a 6-9 monster out of Tilden who averaged 20 rebounds a game but was in a near fatal collision and is now on the road to major rehab - land in Riverdale this year ?

Gonzo's first year he had Durelle Brown and a ball bag and did some quick fix recruting w/ juco transfers. As great as he was he also started the same way.

Nothing away from the great Fran Fraschilla but he inherited a hell of a squad from Lappas and took it to the next level w/ players like Andrea Gabriel - oh I mean Jason Hoover.

Watch MC land in top 3-4 in the league with 16+ wins and write me about how much you know. Watch him land a 6-8" big east caliber monster who's name shall be witheld from this board so as not to appear to be tampering. Be afraid of the boogeyman boys cause Barry Claus is coming to town

Hey Brain, you think Barry is getting such great players and you are only hoping for 16 wins! Don't you remember that before Barry there was a guy name Gonzo who got 5 straight 20 win seasons!! We should be happy with 16 from Barry? I don't think so.

That is the trouble with fans from Riverdale they are willing to accept mediocrity, rather than demand a continuation of a high standard. As a Jasper fan, I want Barry to win just like Gonzo did. Can he do it, I really don't know. But the honeymoon is over this year for Barry. We will find out a few things this year. Can he coach? Since just about everyone on the team, is his recruit we will find out about the quality of his recruiting.At this point there is no need to defend him from the crtics from other MAAC schools and National U. The kind of year that he has this year will either determine if he is on the right track, or if he is on the John Leonard track! Let's sit back and enjoy the ride and hope that he is succesful.

16+ wins the key is "+". I am not wishing for or happy with 16 wins but am a realist as well. This is his second year. FYI - gonzo didn't win 20 games til his 3rd season in the bronx. He had a losing record in his first year as coach. Accepting mediocrity has nothing to do with my prior post. That being said = i am one to give a brother a chance to build something. I will NOT be content with another losing season but also don't expect to win 20 games til next year. After this year is over you will lose NO impact seniors and will have a new 6-8' Big East level force to be reckoned with on your team. You can surf around and try and figure out who I am talking about but my sources have this one in the bag. I can't comment on any other recruits for next year as i don't have clarity but will as soon as i can. You will see a winning season in the bronx and 20 wins next year or I will be the first to call for a change at the top.

I don't have to wait to see what direction Barry is headed in. I will predict it is Leonardville! Anybody who fills his roster with two 5-5 guards, who are walk ons must be desparate.

Barry this is d-1 basketball, not some CYO team.
