Re: bad night for the maac

How sad..the MAAC is just down right pathetic. Maybe that day I referenced above is upon us already? If so, will sound minds finally prevail and begin to consider the merits of moving to the Patriot League? What is the point of remaining in this irrelevant league that so many here continue to fool themselves into believing is a mid-major? Sorry folks, this league has become a low-major deserving of the PIG. I would rather be in a league that offers the equivalent, if not higher level of basketball now with the benefit of a superior overall athletic and academic profile. Being in the Patriot League has not hurt Holy Cross and Bucknell from being successful in college hoops and from gaining national recognition. Add in Boston University and Loyola College and the Patriot League would be a great league. Mark, Gene, FVX and the Trustees, please make it so!!!!

The Cross made the move to the Patriot, along with ARMY & Fordham for their FOOTBALL programs. Without a doubt, Holy Cross is a MAAC school and belongs there for BasketBall. This is from their AD who I spoke to a few years ago.

But the Cross won zilch in the MAAC and now has a solid shot every year in the Patriot to make the post-season. So, it turned out fine for the Worcester Willies by accident. Even Fordham, who made the post-season 6 out of their 9 MAAC years could finally break the schneid this year with an NIT bid. FINALLY.......... I really don't think their 20 year "investment" & soul-searching was a success.

re: Fairfield, its just a mis-placed program with zero identity other than "Jesuit". Honestly, I really don't know WHERE they belong. Perhaps the NEC would be a better fit.
