Subject: Anyone up for a new MAAC board?

Received a few e-mails today about moving to a new venue for our beloved MAAC board.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the one we have. However, I think a log in board with a no holds barred type of environment would be fun. Tip-toeing around edits and warnings, apparently, has been irritating to quite a few people based on some e-mails I've received.

If we had a log-in board and no restrictions on posts, I'm fine with that. We all know each other - so anyone that signed up with an unfamiliar handle would be on a short-leash, but other than that - if there is enough interest, I'd be willing to look into some other options and even foot the bill for it.

It would be nice to have a www.maacfans.com board or something with a similar name.

If there is interest let me know. Maybe it is something we can get together before the season starts.

Seems you are power hungry and need the base. Couldn't handle the controled board. Face it, most MAAC fans are perverts with their fanatical non sensical support for their teams. What do you do with your logged in board when jerks like Guy play his games. All of a sudden you need censorship. None of these guys can live with censorship or without it.

Why don't you write the jerk who runs this board and ask him to go to log ins. Wouldn't reduce the number of posts. One thing in his favor, he doesn't censor.

Any number of guys on the MAAC forum could moderate it/run it - I think we'd have a better experience if we kept the moderator in house.

I offered to set it up, foot the bill and run it. Like I said, it'd be nice to have a real domain name.

By no holds barred, I mean we could rip each other without getting edited by someone not affiliated with the MAAC community. We've all known each other through the boards for a decade and I think one of us is more suited to call the shots.

I got a 3-day ban last night for no good reason whatsoever. I did NOTHING to earn the "points" to earn the ban. Hey, I prod with the best of them, but when the warning points stacked up, I backed off. And I still got banned. F 'em. I gave 'em $10, let me post the way I want.

But Soup is dead on. Tony and I have been battling on the boards for years, but it's all in good fun even if we don't put a smiley face on it. We both know it.

But this board sucks because of the anon posters such as "Gumbo" who hide behind aliases to attack me. Probably some jerkoff Manhattan fan who truly believes that I'm "Marco Baldi". I know who "Marco Baldi" is. It's not me, dipsh*ts. But I just don't see what there is to gain from attacking someone anonymously. I guess it's just the way of the internet. Lots of "keyboard muscles" out there.

Soup, I don't want to be moderator but you have my support for a new board. And if it's one that we have to pay a few bucks a year to be part of, that's fine too.

How about the BasketballU messageboard? It would be free and it has all the functionality required along with a chat system.

The guy who runs BasketballU would bend over backwards, so to speak, to get MAAC posters to come over to his website. The guy is a fanatical college basketball fan down in Philly and has been following the Friendly MAAC Board for some time so he is somewhat familiar with the cast of characters and tone of the board. I'd give him a ping and see if he would willing to accomodate us.

As one of the original posters and most influential posters in the MAAC community, I say a new site makes some sense. I am not too happy with a site run by outsiders and the ridiculous rules they wish to impose. If I want to rip GuyF, I should be allowed to do that. But logins make sense. This board is worthless; the other one is too regulated. The best answer is to create a board that takes the best attributes of both and is run by someone affiliated with the MAAC.

I got a 3-day ban over there for nothing, and now I go over there to sign on and now my ban is lifetime. Not sure how it's possible for me to get a lifetime ban during a 3-day period when I'm not even allowed to post there, but that's what happens when bible thumpers run the show. And this happens after I "donate" $10 to them. Gaping a-holes, they are.

But Raver's point is well taken. Many of the posters now go back nearly a decade. We all KNOW we're full of crap. The only people who take us seriously are the bible-thumping moderators.

This board would work fine if Peacock would just turn on IPs. Unfortunately, that would have exposed him as most of the alts trying to start flame wars.

I will say that Peacock has many flaws, but I'll guess that only a handful of the crap here comes from his own keyboard. A lot of the crap is from Manhattan and Siena fans. This is fact--I have no need for IPs to verify it.

What's truly amazing is that I am often accused of this anon crap, and I haven't taken part in it in years. The douches on the Manhattan board have me and "Marco Baldi" as the same poster, which is pretty damn funny.
