Subject: post polio vs. old age?

I had polio at age 15 months. It left me with no muscles below the knee in my left leg. I wore a brace until age 18, when I had surgery to correct my flail ankle. My left leg is 2 inches shorter then my right. My left foot is a size and a half smaller also. I keep hearing about post-polio. Is it really a syndrome particlular to polio or could it be just the normal aging process? I am 52 years old, work full-time and have raised three children. I do have moderate back and hip pain (I've been told I have degenerative disc disease in my spine) and recently had knee surgery for a torn meniscus. My shoulders and neck are always sore and I wince when my husband tries to give me a back rub. Is this post-polio or just normal aging, maybe accelerated a little by the effects of the polio. I had the disease in July of 1949.
