History repeats itself once again, however this time it got pushed through town meeting. The same situation occured a few years ago when a group of town governemnt real estate rookies tried to push through a band aid approach to purchase the Mike's Gym builidng for a new town hall. No certified assement was done, no feasablity was done to determine how much of this newly fit out building was going to cost to rip out and reconstruct the builidng. Say what you will about former selectman Dennis Williams, but thank goodness to him and a few others, the scam was uncovered at town meeting and shot down.
Thanks for your Due Dillegence Joe D and Bob C! A re-election resume line item was the only ball that you kept your eye on.... not the cost or the hole you dug for the town as a result of trying to push things through and not looking at full cost to aquire the asset. I won't even get into what the projected maintenace cost for this building will be, which should also be part of the total capital expenditure!
