Yup, that does make sense ... but it would not have seemed to me that a study of flying squirrels would take place in an area devoid of trees (rotf,lmho) - and in my limited experience, I've never seen a street that was not lined with either trees, or telephone poles ... usually both ... in areas where the flying squirrel is a native. I'm sure there are roads crossing the Great Plains that have no trees and perhaps even no telephone poles - but I'm pretty sure there are only members of the ground squirrel family in such areas ;~}
