The only squirrel I know of with that coloring is the Kaibab Squirrel, a subspecies of the Abert's Squirrel. The Kaibab lives only on the north rim of the Grand Canyon - that's the only place in the world that they are found. The Abert's is found on the south rim. They say that they all used to be Abert's, but when the Grand Canyon formed, it split the squirrels into two groups, and the Kaibab evolved into a subspecies.

I think it is one of the most beautiful squirrels in the world, and would love to own one, but they are protected. Maybe someday I will get to go there and see one 'in person'.

Judy
