Anybody else have this problem with digging into plants?

Mine also love to dig in the plants and take "dirt baths". I solved the problem by putting river rocks on top of all of the dirt; makes the pot extremely heavy and hard to tip, and they can't get to the dirt. However, they do still try to bury nuts and things under the rocks!
