Subject: Placing Babies

A reminder...

Only breeders of flying squirrels can relate to what it
takes to place them. I have three babies nearly ready
for new owners. I e-mail the people on my waiting list.
1. Not ready yet.
2. Going in for surgery this week end.
3. Wants an unrelated pair but not for two weeks.
4. No reply
5. & 6. I'd love to get one if you would ship.
7. No reply

EVERY e-mail I send and every reply notes that I do not
ship and they must be picked up, so why they on the list
if they want them shipped?

Everyone wants them at 7-8 weeks old, but they want them
at that age when they can get them, not when the squirrel
is that age. As I said before, I don't go to a shed out
back and make them. I can't pick when they are born nor
can I keep them from aging till someone picks them up.
About 75% of the people that "just got to have one as
soon as possible", never reply when e-mailed a baby is
ready for them. Last summer not one of 30 on the waiting
list bought a squirrel. Only two replied to say they could
not get one at this time.
Because of the above, I know one breeder that quit and
one considering quiting because of the hassle involved.
We can't read minds to know if you decided not to buy.
We can't tell if you are ignoring e-mails or not getting
them. We need some give and take from those who want to
buy flyers if you want to be able to buy them.

That's all...
